Dickinson State Tops Carroll on Senior Day

DICKINSON, N.D. - Dickinson State posted its highest score of the season Saturday morning, defeating Carroll College 94.37-79.20 in a dual at Scott Gymnasium. The meet, which began at 10 a.m., marked the Blue Hawks' lone home appearance of the 2026 campaign and served as Senior Day for Hudson Atkinson, Keilani Diaz, Gustav Kitzan and Isaac Willis. Dickinson State recognized the four seniors prior to competition for their dedication and contributions to the program.

In addition to Senior Day, the event also served as Faculty Recognition Day for the cheer program. Each student-athlete invited a Dickinson State staff or faculty member who has impacted their academic and athletic experience. Following the conclusion of the dual, those faculty and staff members were acknowledged on the floor alongside the team.

The Blue Hawks finished with a final score of 94.37. Carroll recorded a subtotal and final score of 79.20 with no deductions. Dickinson State set the tone in the building portion, earning a 38.1 compared to Carroll's 26.2. The Blue Hawks continued to build separation in tumbling, posting a 29.0 while the Fighting Saints scored 24.7.

In the overall master category, Dickinson State totaled 19.5, narrowly edging Carroll's 19.0. The Blue Hawks also held an advantage in overall effect, averaging a 9.77 compared to 9.3 for the Fighting Saints. The performance marked an improvement from earlier outings this season. In its last competition in Orange City, Iowa, Dickinson State earned scores of 85.68 and 94.05, including a first-place finish with the 94.05. Saturday's 94.37 surpassed that mark as the team's top score to date in 2026 competition.

The Blue Hawks competed with consistency across segments, limiting execution errors outside of the two-point deduction. The building category provided the largest margin of separation, and Dickinson State maintained control through tumbling and overall effect to secure the dual victory. Competing at Scott Gymnasium allowed Dickinson State to perform in front of its home supporters for the first time this season. The Blue Hawks capitalized on that opportunity, delivering a complete routine and improving upon prior scores.
