Hagelund Earns Frontier Conference Field Athlete of the Week Honors

DICKINSON, N.D. – Dickinson State senior Adarra Hagelund was named the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Hagelund, a native of Soldotna, Alaska, earned the honor following a standout season-opening performance at the Yellowjacket/Battlin' Bears Open. She cleared 1.75 meters (5 feet, 8.75 inches) in the high jump to claim the event title, a mark that currently ranks No. 1 in the NAIA this season.

In addition to her winning effort in the high jump, Hagelund posted a mark of 10.67 meters (35 feet, 0.25 inches) in the triple jump, placing fifth in the event.

The weekly award marks the first of Hagelund's career in outdoor track and field.

"Adarra has had a fantastic year high jumping," said head coach Shayne Wittkopp. "It's hard to comprehend how many great marks she consistently put together. It's a tribute to her talent and hard work. She's an easy athlete to root for because she's got such a selfless personality."

Dickinson State will continue its outdoor season in the coming weeks as the Blue Hawks build toward Frontier Conference competition.
