BILLINGS, Mont. — The Dickinson State University men's and women's golf teams competed this week at the Rocky Mountain College Beartooth Invitational, facing a strong field throughout the three-round event for the men and two-round event for the women.
On the men's side, the Blue Hawks finished sixth overall with a team total of +71 (935). Sophomore Torrin Ellis (Polson, Mont.) paced DSU with a 20th-place finish at +10 (73-74-79—226). Sophomore Jayce Johnson (Mandan, N.D.) followed closely in a tie for 25th at +14 (76-78-76—230). Freshman Sam Lewton (Dickinson, N.D.) placed 35th at +23, while freshman Eric DeBoer (Fargo, N.D.) finished 38th at +26. Rounding out the starting lineup, junior Tyus Thomas (Glen Ullin, N.D.) tied for 46th at +32.
For the individuals Sophomore Tyler Gjellstad (Stanley, N.D.) placed 43rd at +30, freshman Emmerson Lee (Dickinson, N.D.) tied for 49th at +39, and sophomore Kaden Bishop (Malta, Mont.) finished 52nd at +40. Rocky Mountain captured the men's team title at -23.
On the women's side, Dickinson State claimed fifth place in the team standings with a +110 total (686). Junior Brooklyn Materi (Upton, Wyo.) led the way with a sixth-place finish at +16 (82-78—160). Senior Ellia Soydara (Fergus Falls, Minn.) tied for eighth at +18 (82-80—162), while freshman Camille Poncin (Livingston, Mont.) secured 23rd at +31. Freshman Kiaralynn Weidinger (Billings, Mont.) and sophomore Emma Isaacs (Biddle, Mont.) finished 34th and 35th, respectively. Competing individually, junior Jori Haugen (Billings, Mont.) placed 40th at +70.
