DICKINSON, N.D. – Dickinson State's Jayce Johnson, a sophomore from Mandan, N.D., has been named the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Johnson captured medalist honors at the Providence (Mont.) Argos Invitational, hosted by the University of Providence at Eagle Falls Golf Course in Great Falls, Mont. He tied atop the leaderboard with a three-round total of 220 strokes and secured the individual title on a scorecard tiebreaker.
Johnson opened the tournament with a 71, followed by a 76 in the second round and a closing 73 in the third. His performance led the Blue Hawks to a runner-up finish in the team standings.
"Jayce had an outstanding week," said head coach Thadd O'Donnell. "He works hard at his game and it shows in his consistent play. His mental toughness is what has made his performance this year so good."
This marks Johnson's first career Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Men's Golfer of the Week honor.
